SIGNING THE BEAM...
Preston students and staff were given the very exciting and unique opportunity of signing a major construction beam for the renovation project. On Monday, October 20, 2014, students, along with their teachers, took turns signing their names as part of our PES history. This construction beam is proudly displayed in our new gymnasium and cafeteria area.
In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month (September - October 15),
second grade teacher, Mrs. Andrea Lopez Burns,
made homemade Guayaba Pasteles (a traditional Cuban breakfast food)
to share with her students and staff. There was also a lesson that included:
how to introduce yourself in Spanish,
counting from one to ten,
customary dress and other cultural information.
"Martina the Beautiful Cockroach", a Cuban folktale, was also read.
Welcome back breakfast and orientation for our bus drivers! PES bus drivers Rock!
